Nadia Comaneci, (born November 12th, 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, (presently Onesti] Romania) Romanian gymnast who was the first gymnast to be awarded a perfect score of 10 in the Olympic event. Bela Karrolyi, the Romanian gymnastics trainer who would become Comaneci's coach later in life she discovered her when she was six. Comaneci was the first to compete for time in the 1969 national junior championships, placing 13th. In the following year, she was crowned champion. At her first international event in 1972 a pre-Olympic junior meet for the communist-bloc countries she took home three gold medals. Then in 1973 and 1974 she was the all-around junior champion. She took home four gold medals and one silver medals in her senior debut international competition, held in 1975. This was the first time she participated as an adult. She won the American Cup in New York City in 1976, becoming the first woman in history to complete a backward double salto as an unmounting from uneven bars that are parallel. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. In her teens Carol Wayne started working in the entertainment business by performing in the form of a figure skater. Along with her twin brother Nina Wayne she was part of the traveling show Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne was a born on the 6th day of September, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. Carol began her career in the entertainment business in her teens. As a young girl, she began performing as a figure skating performer with Nina Wayne in the travelling entertainment program Ice Capades. It featured dramatic ice-skating shows.
